CAPRA SOLIDARITY MINISTRY

From Poverty to Possibility: A Mother’s Journey with One Goat

In a quiet village of Rwanda, Aimee, a mother of two, faced the daily challenges of poverty. With no stable income and little land, she struggled to feed her children, relying on basic farming and occasional community aid. Every day was a test of endurance, filled with uncertainty and sacrifice. Yet, despite her hardship, Aimee held onto hope for a better future.

Her turning point came when Capra Solidarity Ministry selected her family to receive a goat. At first, Aimee couldn’t believe that such a simple animal could make a meaningful difference. But she quickly embraced the opportunity, building a small shelter and learning to care for the goat through guidance from local pastors. That goat, for her, was more than livestock—it was a symbol of dignity and renewal.

In just a few months, the goat gave birth, and Aimee honored the ministry's cycle of giving by returning the first kid. That single act not only fulfilled her responsibility but also filled her with pride. Her remaining goat began producing milk, which Aimee sold at the local market. With the income, she bought school supplies for her children and improved their daily meals.

Beyond the economic impact, Aimee’s sense of self-worth grew. She became an active voice in her community, encouraging other women to join the initiative. The goat had done more than provide—it had restored hope and a sense of purpose. Aimee’s family was no longer defined by what they lacked but by what they were building.

Her story is a powerful reminder that transformation doesn’t always begin with large donations or grand interventions. Sometimes, it begins with one small goat, a caring ministry, and a mother who refuses to give up. Capra Solidarity Ministry stands to empower hundreds more like Aimee—one family at a time.
